Residents of Qatar complain about problems with using VoIP calls on Thursday
Several residents in the country complained that they were facing issues while trying to make voice calls over the internet.
Voice calls through popular chat apps like WhatsApp, Viber and FaceTime were affected yesterday, according to users.
Unlike in some neighbouring countries, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is not banned in Qatar. There has been no official statement on what led to the difficulties, reported Gulf Times.
Social media had been awash with complaints that people were unable to use VoIP services.
Limiting VOIP bandwidth so people cant use apps like WhatsApp to call their loved ones on eid. Not cool. #OoredooQatar #Qatar #Ooredoo

However, Ooredoo, in a series of tweets, clarified that the problem did not have anything to do with their network.
We have noticed that some customers are experiencing quality issues when calling using VolP applications and would like to pic.twitter.com/5jmUFD9fuL

VoIP calls are pretty cheap and that has led to several countries banning the service. However, Qatar’s policy on VoIP has been pretty well circulated.
In its website, Qatar’s Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) said, “VoIP is a technology for the delivery of voice services using existing internet infrastructure and services. There are no laws or rules that prohibit the use of such technology within the State of Qatar.
When Gulf Times contacted CRA, a spokesperson said, “We’ve already initiated an investigation into this.”

If you notice above, Ooredoo is not replying in right way. They just copy paste their reply to everyone.
This issue still exists and definitely it's game to make money. I stopped buying their recharge cards as much as i can. This is how we have to do. Do it. Try some new apps for calling and share it with others.
Again for the past two days no VOIP Audio/Video calls are getting connected while on Ooredoo network. This time, not official response too.
Anybody else facing same problem today? Looks like Ooredoo is playing games again.
Again from yesterday same problem started
