No curb in exchange of Qatari Riyals in the country, says Reserve Bank of India
There have been many reports in social media that some exchange houses in India are refusing to change Qatari Riyals for local currency after they were given a directive by competent authorities.
The Peninsula had earlier reported that some airports in the country were not accepting Qatari Riyals for exchange. They had pointed out to a tweet made by a user as the basis for it.

However, the Indian Embassy in Doha had tweeted out a clarification saying no such orders were in place.

And now, the Reserve Bank of India itself have come out with a clarification letter, on its official website, saying that no such ban was in place.
“It has come to the notice of RBI that certain entities authorised under the Foreign Exchange Management Act to deal in foreign exchange, are not undertaking the exchange of Qatari riyals in India. It is clarified that the Reserve Bank has not issued any instructions restricting the exchange of Qatari riyals in India,” Qatar Tribune reported the apex bank as saying in Mumbai.
There had been earlier reports that Sri Lankan banks were not accepting Qatari Riyals for exchange, but those later turned out to be erroneous reports as well.
Dear QLers, have you had any problems in exchanging money since the imposition of the illegal GCC blockade?
It was happened with me also at Mumbai airport on 24th June. I was having Qatari riyal for paying custom charges at bank but he refused to take Qatari riyal and there is a written notice also at the counter stating that we do not accept Qatari riyal. Indian government please do something and instruct them properly. Unfortunately I don't had any Indian money at that time and I exchanged at a private money exchange and what I got is only 13rupees for one riyal.
Thanks for the info...RBI made it clear..
Thanks India.
