Almas is a Must-Visit Ramadan Tent
The City Centre Oryx Rotana is another hotel that has transformed one of its ballrooms into a contemporary Arabian retreat, where lavish Itftar and Suhoor will be served.
Dinners can indulge in an array of flavorsome Middle Eastern and international dishes. City Centre Oryx Rotana goes all out to create an authentic Arabic experience inside its Almas tent.
The tent has a seating capacity of around 190 seats, and a few exquisitely decorated Majlis for those who enjoy privacy. The décor exceeds expectations with stars and moon ornaments adorning the walls.
We visited the tent to try out their Suhoor. Upon arrival, we are escorted to one of the Majlis. Once inside we are seated on divans (a piece of couch-like sitting furniture), where we get ready to start our Ramadan feast.
The waiter first brings us a fresh pineapple juice and a lemon-mint for my companion. Other choices include orange, mix fruit cocktail, and cranberry Juice as well as vimto, kamar Al Deen, and Tamar Hindi
Before I start any meal at any Ramadan tent I first eat a few dates. In some tents dates tent to be dry and hard. At Rotana, they are soft and juicy. It is already a good start.
We then procced to check out the salad bar and I must say the choices are endless. From home-made pickle vegetable, pickle cucumber, to parmesan flakes, herb croutons, cocktail onion, and sundried tomato, here you can find any kinds of salads you ask can for.
For starters, the clear beef broth with vegetable is sensational, best soup I have had in years. I would recommend accompanying it with hummus, mutable tabbouleh and fattosh. Also try the mix seafood.
Before heading out to the mains, check out the hot messe that includes homemade falafel, vegetable and cheese samosa, meat kibbeh, that you can dip into a yummy tahini sauce, plain yoghurt or tomato ketchup. Sushi lovers can rejoice as Almas tent offers a live sushi and maki roll bar counter.
For mains, the spaghetti Bolognaise is a must for pasta lovers. The Moroccan and Arabic buffet offers amazing dishes such as the Kofta tajin, cous cous with vegetable and sheik al mashi. The mixed grill with vegetable accompanied by Vermicelli rice is also a delight.
There is so much more to discover at Almas tent. It is one of our top recommendations for an Iftar or Suhoor this Ramadan.
