Company monitoring employees via bank/ATM transactions
By PM-me-ur-masala •
Paranoid question, but can the company monitor its employees by keeping track of expenditure habits (e.g. location of ATM withdrawal, use of Debit card in mall transactions, etc.)?
I can understand that the government can do this and may do this to its citizens for public protection, but can the employer do the same (though for different reasons)?
@qtaradel01 How nice. Now I can sleep more peacefully knowing that my privacy is nil.
Sarcasm aside, does it mean that Vodafone and Ooredoo (and whatever other telco there is here in Qatar) willingly gives records/transcripts of workers' OUTSIDE-OF-WORK PERSONAL calls to their sponsors?
Edit: A word

I feel sorry for you. My dear here your company can even monitor you mobile calls and also your purchase trend. So, welcome to a Big Jail
@shuhamoh THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
It's not that I am involved in shady dealings, but I come from a country where privacy is a right, not a privilege (even to employees) so this comes as a shock to me. Now I know that I should be more prudent with the use of my ATM/debit card and which ATM to use.
Company can request employee's statement of accounts from the bank.
usually banks provide the statement as per company request. so the employer will be able to check the movement of employee's bank account.
@britexpat Thank you.
So would I be correct in assuming that the company can only deposit payroll money into my bank account, and NOT view the balance whatsoever?
The simple answer is NO!
As an addendum, they should not be doing so
