Education Ministry’s search engine helps parents find affordable KGs

Over the last few months, a lot of independent and affordable kindergarten schools have come up around the country. They work out to be cheaper as they are not affiliated to any of the leading private schools in Qatar.
A search engine, operated by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education on its website, has helped put parents in touch with KGs and schools of their choice, reported The Peninsula.
The search engine provides detailed information about all private schools and kindergartens in the country, including details like fee structure, curriculum and facilities.
The service, which is currently available in both Arabic and English, can be accessed via THIS LINK.
Some of the more established KGs increased their fees recently and this has also increased the flow of parents to more affordable options.
It also helps the independent KGs are cheaper by more than 50% compared to the more established ones.
“I found a very affordable kintergarten with British curriculum behind Wathnan Mall, Muaither on the search tool of the Ministry,” a female teacher told The Peninsula.
The total annual fee of this kindergarten is QR11,300 including the charges for registration, uniform and textbooks.
“My daughter was with me in my school in a crèche. Now she is old enough to join KG class. The fee in my school is about QR30,000 per year; QR25,000 tuition fees, QR3,000 registration, QR800 for uniform and QR500 for text books. So I decided to admit my daughter in the new KG,” said the teacher.
“I took the KG’s number from the contacts available in the Ministry search tool. I was told that registration for next year will begin next month,” she added.
