When you are in a hurry to leave the country on emergencies, you may not notice if you have some unpaid fines. While it is not common, sometimes, you may be asked to pay them before exiting Qatar. When that happens, it leads to unnecessary pressured.

Now, you can easily pay your fines at the Hamad International Airport itself as the Public Prosecution has opened an office at the facility to process transactions of departing passengers, reported Gulf Times.

The facility, which is located at the departure lounge of the HIA, will help those banned from leaving the country on account of not paying fines and others who have outstanding financial liabilities.

Those who have incurred travel bans for issuing dud cheques can also pay the amount at the counter and earn the right to leave the country.

A self-service machine has also been installed for passengers’ convenience. As soon as you pay the outstanding dues, the travel ban will be lifted automatically.

Working round the clock, the office will be able to clear your doubts as well. A number of prosecutors and other employees are available to resolve issues and make your travel smooth.

However, the office can process only travel bans issued by the Public Prosecution and not by any other state authority.

There are also plans to open similar offices at the Abu Samra border crossing as well as at the seaport.

Meanwhile some offences, like smoking on board the flight, causing trouble or noise, or not following instructions of the cabin crew, or can be investigated by the office and settled without having to move the offender to the police station.
