What not to eat on an empty stomach

Did you know there is such a thing as eating the right things at the wrong time? There are certain foods that are more harmful that beneficial if eaten on an empty stomach. The following is a list of such foods:

 

1.    Bananas are one of the healthiest fruits you can have, help relieve constipation and keep you full for longer. Nonetheless, they contain potassium and magnesium in high quantities so if eaten on an empty stomach may cause a potassium and magnesium imbalance in the blood.

2.    Green leafy vegetables and cucumbers, if eaten on an empty stomach, may lead to flatulence, heart burn or abdominal pain because they are high in amino acids. 

3.    Tomatoes have a high amount of tannic acid which may cause an increased amount of acidity in the stomach and can lead the way to gastric ulcers if eaten on an empty stomach.

4.    Lemons, oranges and other citrussy fruits contain fruit acids and, if eaten on an empty stomach, may lead to heart burn along and there are chances of getting gastric ulcers and gastritis.  

5.    Spicy food, if taken on an empty stomach, irritate the gastric mucosa and increase the production of acids in the stomach which can be a major cause of digestive problems.

6.    Carbonated and fizzy beverages, can disturb the digestion process by affecting the mucous membranes and reducing blood supply to the stomach whe taken on an empty stomach.
