63 new private schools given initial approval to open its doors next year
Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education has given initial approval to 63 new private schools to open in the 2017-18 Academic year.
The approved schools include 23 with British curriculum, 13 American, 12 Indian, two Egyptian, two Tunisian, one Canadian, one French, one Lebanese and eight Qatari schools, reported The Peninsula.
“These schools have got the initial approval. They must now fulfill all licensing requirements related to school building, educational plan, school organisation, staff etc within June 30. Should they fail to do that, approval will be automatically cancelled,” Hamad Al Ghali, director of the Private Schools Office at the Ministry said.
“If they meet all requirements within the deadline, they’ll be able to start operations in the 2017-2018 academic year,” he added.
Each school should have a target to attract a minimum of 25% Qatari students. This requirement, however, does not apply to community schools.
So they've got five months to get a license (including building, staff, educational plan etc etc)
