Qatar brings you, for the very first time, the Doha Triathlon, on January 20, 2017. It’s open for swimmers, runners and cyclists of all levels who will perform with the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) and Doha’s beautiful skyline in the background.

The Triathlon features Olympic (0.5km swim, 40km bike and 10km run) and Sprint (750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run) distances and will go on from 7am to approximately 11am. The full distance Olympic triathlon comprises a 1.5km swim. This will be followed by a 40km bike race, and the event will end with a 10km run. The Sprint distances are half that of the Olympic, and are open to individuals and teams.

The race will take place on a rolling start base and start with a dive from the dock with 3 to 4 people going into the water simultaneously just adjacent to MIA. The faster athletes will start first and the slower simmers will follow after a short while. The temperature of the water is anticipated to be approximately 18-22 Celsius, so wetsuits are optional as per the ITU rules.

Register for the individual Olympic distance and Sprint distance event at QAR.350 and  QAR.450 for the relay Olympic distance and Sprint distance as soon as possible because places are limited.

The winners will get medals, and all participants will go home with a commemorative event T-shirt and a good bag each.
If you want more information on the Triathlon visit the event’s website https://dohatriathlon.com/.

In a run up to National Sports Day coming up on the second Tuesday of February, The Doha Triathlon has been organized by TriClub Doha in partnership with the Qatar Cycling Federation and Tasama Sports Development with Qatar Tourism Authority as the main sponsor. The club was established in 2012 and is the biggest Triathlon club in Qatar.

The purpose of the Triathlon is to promote a healthy and active lifestyle and encourage locals and expats to participate in healthy activities.
