Overcrowded Indian schools stopped from admitting new KG students
Overcrowding in Qatari schools, especially those run by Indian managements, is a real issue.
Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education has started to tighten their grip on such schools. As a result, several Indian schools have either been denied permission or are still awaiting approval to admit new kindergarten students for the 2017-18 academic year, reported Qatar Tribune.
While MES Indian School and Ideal Indian School have denied permission to open admissions for KG classes, officials at DPS-Modern Indian School are still awaiting approval.
MES and Ideal Indian School will not admit any fresh students next year as the schools are already beyond capacity.
Sources say MES, which has a capacity of 5,000 students, currently have about 8,000 studying there. Ideal Indian School also has around 6,000 kids, when the permitted capacity is 3,000.
Some schools say their financial situation will become worse if new admissions are not allowed, since a number of Class 12 students will leave the school this year.
Some schools, like Shantiniketan Indian School and Olive International School have completed their admission process for KG students.
One of the hardest persons hit by the decision are Indian parents, who are struggling to find new schools for their young children.
Sorry, QL Admin but the photo in this article is NOT APPLICABLE. The school children shown are not from any Indian school in Qatar; neither are the children Indian nationals.
MM: This is intriguing .. You say your boss is female - In other posts , you've clearly mentioned that your boss has a wife ....
So it seems that your boss has come out of the closet :O)
Agree with rave, yesterday I told my boss to be a partner in a good school ........ ........ She liked the idea, good enough to be rewarded at the month end as she said ...... waiting for that day .................
What i find fascinating is that the authorities allow this "overcapacity" to continue .. Surely , having 6000 children in a place designed for 3000 is a safety hazard
by a very rough calaculation: 6000 x QR12,000/year = QR72mil and divide by 12months = QR6mil/per month. i guess good business!
Ideal is the best, there is no doubt about it ....... So nice to hear the Ideal is still at the top ........ Great ........
Ideal indian school have changed some staff room into class room and they have also build classrooms in halls to cope with more strength.
All we need is space which is available in abundance ......... ..... May be schools are not serious to see it from that angle ............ build more rooms ...... it's very simple ............... ...........
