Do you have an E-Gate system card (Smart ID) yet?

If you don’t, consider getting one because it makes it simpler for air passengers and officials to enter and exit the country with ease.

E-Gate Card holders can bypass immigration formalities at the Hamad International Airport by punching their cards at the gate and pressing their index fingers on an electronic scanner.

Residents who want to get an E-card should visit the immigration department in Madinat Khalifa.

The fees

QR100 each for ID card issuance and E-Gate Services for one year.

QR150 for E-Gate services for two years.

QR200 for E-Gate services for three years.

QR250 for E-Government services for three years.

The process

Go to the immigration department Gate 2 in Madinat Khalifa with your ID card (Residency card).

Immigration staff will assist you to have your photo taken and hands fingerprinted. Get a token and wait for your number to be called. Once your number is called, let the officials know that your fingerprint is already on the system. Also choose to apply for the Smart ID card for one or two or three years.

Immigration will swap your Residency ID for a chipped ID card. With this E-Card you should be able to skip immigration and passport control and use the E-Gate, as long as you have your exit permit.

Happy travelling!
