Ride the new UberGo in Doha for less than the cost of a good cup of coffee!
Ever since ride hailing services like Uber and Careem launched their services in Qatar, travelling from point A to B has never been the same. Travellers in Qatar were treated to a much superior level of journeying, with complete control at the palm of their hands.
However, one prohibiting factor for such ride hailing services was the cost factor. At least some people felt they were more expensive than the illegal private taxis that ply Qatar’s roads.
But now, Uber has launched a new service — UberGo — that makes use of older, smaller cars to offer rides that are cheaper by at least 25%. This is in addition to the existing UberX service.
“Today, we take another step towards making the reliable Uber you have been used to even more affordable as we introduce UberGO in Doha…the same Uber experience for 25% less than UberX,” the ride hailing service said on its website.
UberGo, which aims to cater to passengers who do not own a car but need to make short trips around cities, is promoted as being cheaper than a cup of good coffee.
UberGo will use smaller hatchback vehicles, like the Nissan Sentra, Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla, and has a minimum fare of QR10.
Qatar thus became the first country in the region to have UberGo. It had earlier been introduced in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Good news .. Will do it this week end
So far, not many drivers are on UberGO yet and most of the time it is at surge pricing; meaning it is more expensive that UberX at standard rates.
