Colours collide as Indians in Qatar celebrate 70th Independence Day
It is said that expatriates celebrate the Independence Day of their respective countries more ardently than those at home. This is obviously because there is some truth in the saying ‘distance makes the heart grow fonder.’
Members of the Indian community living in Qatar got together to celebrate their country’s 70th Independence Day. It was an occasion filled with fun, laughter and tonnes and toones of colour.
Hundreds of people took part in the celebrations, organised by the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), at the Diplomatic Club.
Organisations affiliated with the ICC put up a host of cultural programmes and it was a memorable evening.
Indian ambassador Sanjiv Arora, second secretary and ICC co-ordinating officer KS Dhiman and ICC president Girish Kumar were some of the prominent names to attend the event.
The cultural performances highlighted India’s unity, diversity and rich heritage. Patriotism was the common thread that bound the various dances and skits. The more than 200 performers gave special emphasis to India’s armed forces.
Hope you enjoyed the pictures of the evening.
It was sad to see you go, but a very happy independence day to all Indians ....
