So finally, there is some good news for people living in Qatar. The government has decided to cut fuel prices marginally, by 5 dirhams, during the month of September.

This was announced by the Ministry of Energy and Industry.

Beginning September 1, the price of 91-octane premium petrol will be QR1.30/litre, down from the present QR1.35.

Meanwhile, Super 95-octane petrol will cost QR1.40 per liter, down from QR1.45 before. However, the price of diesel will remain fixed at QR1.40/litre. The drop in prices means the cost of petrol will go back to the same rate as in July.

It will come as good news for Qatar’s residents, who have been seeing inflation all year round.

Qatar’s government began pegging the price of fuel to international rates earlier this year.
