Expect soaring temperatures and poor visibility on Saturday
Another hot day, strong winds and poor visibility due to dusty conditions are expected in the country on Saturday, Gulf Times reported Qatar’s Met department as saying.
Offshore areas, too, are likely to see strong winds along with high seas by the afternoon.
The wind speed may go up to 35 knots in some inshore areas during the day before decreasing by night. In offshore areas, it is likely to increase to 25 knots by the afternoon.
Visibility, meanwhile, may drop to 3km or less in some places at times.
The forecast for inshore areas on Saturday also says it will be “hot to very hot” during the day with some clouds and slight to blowing dust at times. It will become relatively humid by night.
Slightly dusty conditions have been forecast in offshore areas on Saturday, with the sea level rising to 7-8ft by the afternoon.
On Friday, the mercury level soared to 48C in Turayna, which lies in southern Qatar, while the maximum temperature in the capital was 47C, recorded in the Qatar University area.
The maximum temperature forecast in the country today is 47C in places such as Doha, Messaied, Wakrah and Al Khor.
