Katayef: A favourite snack during Ramadan
Katayef, a favourite sweet-stuffed pancake on plate for breaking the fast, continues to be one of the most sought after desserts during Ramadan.
'Katayef', made of wheat flour, is one of the favourite delicacies of many Qatar residents during Ramadan. Even though 'Katayef' is a delicious dessert that can be added to the daily menu throughout the year, it is widely used by people during the holy month.
Some shopkeepers also set up temporary kitchens in front of their shops to demonstrate the cooking process while allowing customers to purchase fresh cakes directly from the oven.
Katayeh is usually stuffed with cream or cheese and is served with a generous amount of sugar syrup. Variations also include katayefs stuffed with nuts and dipped in sugary syrups.
Where do you get your Katayef from? Do you make them at home or like them readymade? For more Ramadan content, visit Qatar Living's Ramadan page.
What is it stuffed with normally? The picture looks like something with vegetables and cheese?
If I am not mistaken, I think the delicious image is of a dessert called kanafeh (or was it kunafeh?)
What is in the picture used is NOT "Katayef" !!
We all love the food .. So tasty
There is no doubt about it ..................................
