Celebrating Garangao this year with the young patients at HMC filled our hearts with joy, but has more importantly drawn a smile on their faces, which is not only a part of KidzMondo’s Corporate Social Responsibility program in Qatar, but is also at the core of our edutainment city’s mission to bring kids in the country and their families happiness, hope and inspiration.”
Hamad General Hospital’s Chief of Staff, Dr. Yousuf Al Maslamani thanked KidzMondo Doha for taking the initiative to share the traditional festival’s joyful spirit with HMC’s patients. He said:
“All of us at HMC appreciate KidzMondo’s kind gesture and we were delighted to see our young patients happily interact with the KidzMondo team and mascots. This initiative helped raise the children’s spirits while at the same time reviving a local tradition by encouraging Qatar’s younger generation to celebrate the country’s history and heritage.”
Garangao is a traditionally celebrated event on the 14th night of Ramadan across the Gulf region, where children celebrate the holy month’s values of sharing, as they go around their neighborhoods, knocking on doors, dressed up in colorful, traditional Qatari clothes, singing the event’s signature song, with cloth bags that they carry around to collect nuts and candies from their neighbors. Nowadays, the festival is celebrated across the country with a wide range of supporting events and activities including arts and crafts workshops, storytelling sessions, henna and face painting as well.
KidzMondo’s Garangao celebration with the young patients at HMC is a part of the booming edutainment brand’s wider mission of inspiring kids across the country to engage in fun yet fruitful activities and endeavors. KidzMondo aims to help children enjoy their childhood while empowering them with knowledge and life-lessons that enable them to become well-versed individuals, thereby creating a better future for themselves and their communities.
