Experienced Civil Engineer - British
Hi all
I'm considering a potential move to the Middle East as I'll probably struggle to get my ideal location of South East Asia (Malaysia/Indonesia). Qatar is where many of the opportunities are.
I wanted to know what sort of salary/package to expect with the following qualifications and experiences:
British
Single
Masters Degree (MEng)
Chartered Engineer
Senior Engineer
10 years experience in:
1 yr Construction
1 yr Rail
2.5 yrs Highways
1.5 years Water
3.5 years Oil and Gas
Varied sectors I know but redundancies and market conditions have pushed me around.
I could probably come in as Design Manager, that is my preference, if not into Project Management as I've done a little bit as an Engineer.
What package should I expect?
Detailed input would be much appreciated.
Many thanks.
38K all inclusive (in one of the Qatar Rail projects)
Basic 25K plus all usual allowances say 7K , before that free housing, med, tickets etc ....... lots of holidays ..... very kind & supportive folks all around you ........ wish you good luck, welcome & joys .............
That seems reasonable .. I would ask for a little more for housing ... I doubt whether they would agree to nots than one flight a year .. But no harm in asking
Well...I don't know exactly what to expect as i didnt want to put numbers to it and get the local knowledge in here.
If i was asked in an interview, Id say something like 35k basic per month + accommodation allowance (8-10k) + transportation (2k) + flights. So around 45-48k total package.
Not sure how reasonable that is hence my post.
Any thoughts?
The question is what package DO YOU expect?
I forgot to add that most likely id go for a Rail sector position as thats where id like to steer myself into. Ive already tailored my CV towards a rail role and theres a fair amount of rail development being done.
