Al Khor Park has been witnessing a remarkable turnout of visitors, especially during weekends, since its opening in February. On Friday, the footfalls touched a record 25,000.

The turnout has remained unaffected although some works are still pending.

Minister of Municipality and Environment HE Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Rumaihi said the ministry had opened the park to the public though some minor works are yet to be completed.

The ministry, through its Facebook and Twitter accounts, has been reviewing complaints or suggestions of visitors and directing Al Khor and Al Takhira municipalities to solve them.

Shaheen Al Muhannadi, the administration officer in charge of Al Khor Park, said one of the complaints was that some people were entering the park without tickets.

The officer clarified these visitors were allowed to go out to offer Friday prayers outside the park, while some were allowed to go out to bring food for their children.

The officer said the visitors were not allowed to bring in chairs, tables and bicycles because of the damage caused earlier to the lawns and lights.

The number of garbage bins inside the park has been increased to ensure no one litters the park.

“The park administration has worked hard to ensure the safety and security of visitors,” said Al Muhannadi, adding the security officers, municipal employees and inspectors are making great efforts to ensure discipline inside the park.

After completion of all works, the ministry wants the park to serve all segments of society through different programmes throughout the year.

Great stuff .. We need more parks ..

Curious about the following: " After completion of all works, the ministry wants the park to serve all segments of society through different programmes throughout the year."

So , which segment is it catering for at present ?
