Restaurant, food shop in Al Khor closed down over violations
Inspectors shut down a restaurant in Al Khor after it detected the institution providing meals not up to the health standards.
The violation came to light during an inspection campaign being conducted by the Health Monitoring Section in Al Khor-Al Dhakhira Municipality.
In addition to the restaurant, an errant food shop in new Industrial Area in Al Khor was closed for functioning without a valid licence.
The inspection campaign has been intensified as the Holy Month of Ramadan approaches.
Inspectors take samples of meat, chicken, milk, mineral water and other food items and send them to central laboratories at the Ministry of Public Health for test to verify if the food items are safe for human consumption.
The inspection campaign covers all fruit and vegetable shops, sweets shops, poultry companies and manufacturers of milk and milk products to ensure that they are complying with health standards.
