Municipality to go on a cleaning spree in Industrial Area
The Industrial Area of Qatar is one of the fastest growing neighbourhoods of the country. In fact, according to the government census figures the area received an additional 103,300 residents solely between the years 2010 and 2015.
The population of the Industrial Area has reached such a level that the State has taken steps to even permit individuals to live in newly built garages in some areas of the city.
Furthermore, the government has opened a Labour City with affordable and clean lodgings for labourers and has introduced a free bus service along the area. The commercial complex Asian Town stands out as a prominent place of the Industrial Area.
In spite of all this, Industrial Area is quite known for its warehouses, storage sheds and garages.
However, Baladiya in its official Twitter account, tweeted recently that from May 1, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) will start a campaign to remove all kinds of left overs like tyres, old cars etc, from the area.

While no further details were provided by the ministry, the move will hopefully give a renewed façade to one of the rapidly growing sections of the country.

Rizks: I googled kajol last night :O)
britey, wat about the pot bellies ? :)
lets hope that the "cleanup" is a start. Then they can focus on potholes and other things
Encroaching on streets and roads is unlawful. And where is the space to walk there? And that too in hot climate.
You can shift all the junk to your house. Public will have a sigh of relief.
You are such a negative creature. The IA is beautiful. I love junk yards and old cars, never mind the impossibility to drive there. But you can still walk if you have legs!
Industrial area needs to be fixed. That place is a mess and I think twice before going there.
It's such a beautiful idea that it should be awarded the Peace Nobel Prize!
We appreciate and support this noble effort
I do wish someone would act to change the name "Asian Town" .. It all sounds condescending
