If you’re a Qatari citizen and looking for an animation course, then here’s something that might interest you.

Doha Film Institute (DFI) along with the Qatar Animation Centre will conduct the first session of the intermediate level Toon Boom Certified Training Course. The best part is the course will be in English and will be held from May 14 to 26.

According to statement made by DFI, Toon Boom software helps artists worldwide to tell their stories in any style of animation, and efficiently publish them from the big screen to mobile.

Furthermore, The Peninsula reports that from 2D to 3D, and from cut-out to claymation, some of the most memorable productions ever made were developed using Toon Boom software.    The gaming and live action industry has also begun developing projects using Toon Boom.

Animation industry veteran Stacey Eberschlag will introduce participants to the concepts of Harmony and Storyboard Pro, and explain their basic uses. He will elaborate the two main animation techniques Harmony is used for: traditional paperless animation and cut-out animation.

The course is open to Qatar citizens who possess general drawing, animation and storyboarding skills. They should be capable of using a pen tablet.

A detailed course breakdown will be shared with those candidates who are selected for the course. Personal copies of the software programmes are provided to course participants.

A certification exam will be held and official certification provided, DFI said. It is mandatory to complete all three sessions of the course through the year in order to get the certification at the end of the course.

The course is spread over three sessions of 12 days. The total training per session is 49 hours. Each session will be held from Saturday through Thursday from 4pm to 8.30pm. On Saturdays the session will be held from 10am to 6pm.
