Thrid party or comprehensive insurance?

So, first time getting insurance in Qatar. Car is Pajero 2014 model. Previous owner had comprehensive cover which runs out this month. I haven't been involved in any accidents.

I drive like a sane person and take very little risk. Is there any point of taking comprehensive or is third party cover enough?.

You should get full insurance, you may get parking accidents and those people who give you one, usually runaway. If you only have third party, you will bare the full cost of repair. For 2014 model, you should always get full insurance.

A colleague of mine met with an accident two weeks back. He had third party insurance and is now repenting. His is of junk value now.

Always go for fully comp. you pay extra but have peace of mind.

You may be a sane driver, but there are lots of idiots on the road

Possibly, you are unaware of the difference between the two insurance types. Third Party would cover cost of repairs only to the vehicle of the other party should you meet with an accident and the fault was put on you. The insurance company will not repair your vehicle. In Comprehensive cover, your vehicle and the other party's vehicle, both are covered. That is why Comprehensive insurance cover costs more than third party insurance. It is always advisable to go for comprehensive insurance cover for your vehicle. Third party insurance is mandatory for all vehicles in Qatar. Comprehensive insurance is not. The choice is yours.
