Ministry recalls two cooking oil products for violating ministry standards

During a sudden inspection campaign conducted recently by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC), two samples of cooking oil have been collected to make sure they meet the specific standards set by the Ministry.
The lab results confirmed that the first sample was non-compliance with standard specifications in terms of its fatty acid content while the second sample contained a higher than permitted amount of antioxidants E391 according to GCC specifications, reports The Peninsula.
While the ministry has not revealed the names of the products, both the cooking oil ranges have been recalled from the shelves in Qatar.
It was found that the products were recalled in accordance with article (5) of law number (8) of 2008 which prohibits the sale, display or advertising of fraudulent and corrupt goods. An item is considered fraudulent or corrupt if it has expired or it fails to meet standard specifications.
Penalties for violations of law number (8) of 2008 on consumer protection range between administrative closures and a minimum fee of QR3,000 and up to QR1m. The ministry stressed that it will intensify its inspection campaigns to crack down on all violations of the consumer protection law.
The ministry urged consumers to report any violations to its Consumer Protection and Anti-Commercial Fraud department and send complaints and suggestions through call centre: 16001; email: [email protected]; Twitter MEC_QATAR; Instagram MEC_QATAR; and the ministry’s app on smartphones available on iPhone and Android devices MEC_QATAR.
Idiots. How can we complain if we don't know the names? Must be Qatari logic.
Many people will be using that product, it should be named so that people can avoid this oil, otherwise now all oil will be doubtful now.
""While the ministry has not revealed the names of the products"""
-must be qatari company than :P
I am also perplexed by this .. I wonder what their logic / reasoning is
Again, there's no mention of the brands of these cooking oil's. Public awareness regarding such products is essential.
