Ministry lays out new rules for selling gold and jewelry in Qatar
Qatar residents will require a no-objection certificate (NoC) from the police from now on if they wish to sell their gold or jewelry.
According to a post by Ministry of Interior, only men and women aged 18 or above will be given the NoC. It can be obtained from the ‘gold sale NoC bureau’ at any of the Public Security departments or Souq Waqif.
A fee of QR10 is to be paid to acquire the NoC but the payment has to be made through a bank card.
Also, the seller should bring along and show the bureau the gold — jewelry, or pure gold or watch, or items of gold, including bars, among others — meant to be sold, the ministry announced on its Facebook account.
A purchase bill, if available, must be submitted to the bureau. Citizens and residents must produce their identity (ID) card while it is a must for visitors to show their passports, reports The Peninsula.
Men or women can sell gold owned by them as well as on behalf of their close relatives, including wife, sister, mother, grandmother, father’s sister or mother’s sister.
They must produce their ID cards and those of the actual owners.
People can also depute their “representatives” to sell gold and in that case their IDs and those of the representatives need to be produced along with purchase bills, if available.
The ministry said the measures aim to safeguard people’s personal properties.

I sold 2 times the gold with my wife one in 2009 and one in 2012.
That time i used to make NOC from Police from Souk Area.
So its not new.
so if I gifted gold to someone as a gift, and purchased it in my name, that person needs my ID card to sell it should they be in any urgent financial stress? it would be helpful if more details were written...
A good monitoring step ............... welcome it .........
