Kids’ safety on the internet is a social responsibility, says government

Qatar said that the protection and safety of children on the Internet is a shared responsibility of both individuals and society, especially family members, parents, friends and teachers and all those concerned with the protection of children.
This came in a speech delivered by the Second Secretary at the Permanent Mission of Qatar in Geneva Noor Al Sada during the 'annual full-day meeting on the rights of the child' held as part of the ongoing 13th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
QNA reports that despite the great significance of information technology and communications to all segments of society, the risks that could result from the irrational use of this technology by children in particular have negative impact on their present and future, and require the adoption of measures to keep pace with the progress in this sector, the Second Secretary said, emphasizing the importance of communication between children, parents and teachers to combat this phenomenon.
She added that the Ministry of Transport and Communications had launched SafeSpace to help parents and teachers keep children safe online. SafeSpace.qa is a website filled with valuable information and resources on cyber safety.
Al Sada said that Qatar undertook necessary legislations to guarantee the protection of children online and issued cybercrime prevention law in 2014
You should let them watch what they want, but make it clear to them that you don't like it. They will follow suit, and it will be THEIR decision which is much more valuable than YOUR force.
Brity: it is so hard to do these things now and kids knows it, if they are not tied to the computer or laptops, they turn to their mobile phones and tablets, install VPN and parents wouldn't know about it.
zackm: Yes there are ways round it, but i do believe that parents have a responsibility to be vigilat and monitor what their offspring view on the internet
No point on all the internet protection, kids these days are still watching p0rn and indecent materials through the use of VPNs and hiding their IP addresses through software. If one kids knows how to do it, he or she will spread it to 10 other kids, and you can imagine how many kids there after and after.
Perhaps the lady was speaking on behalf of all the citizenry of Qatar....
"Qatar said.." I did not know that Qatar can talk.
