Tim Gajser and Jeffrey Herlings dominate MXGP Qatar.
As round one of the Motocross World Championship came to an end, Honda Gariboldi's Tim Gajser and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Jeffrey Herlings doubled up to claim the first Red Plates of the season.
Tim Gajser put his name in the history books as the youngest rider ever to win in the premier class of the FIM Motocross World Championship on his debut. “I was really relaxed coming here, I didn’t have pressure on myself. I didn’t know what to expect, I knew I had a good winter, good preparation, good testing and good with the team, so I came here just wanting to give my best.” said the young rider at the plate ceremony.
Gajser finished seven seconds ahead of HRC Honda’s Evgeny Bobryshev and 19 seconds ahead of Yamaha’s Romain Febvre in the first moto, and eight seconds ahead of Febvre in the second moto.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Jeffrey Herlings came out well prepared in the opening round. Even with the injuries he has acquired the past couple of seasons, he had his KTM pinned in both races to dominate the opening round in the MX2 class.
