We're back again with another interesting piece of knowledge about Qatar on the occasion of national day.

Did you know that HH Father Emir is the only leader in the Gulf to voluntarily abdicate reign to his son?

Al-Thani family is the monarchy of Qatar. Since 1825, the Al-Thani household have been ruling Qatar.

However, when Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani began rule from 1995, Qatar saw many developments and underwent drastic reformations.

It was under his reign that Qatar grew into the successful, wealthiest country of the world that we are all very well aware of.

It was under Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani that the country won the right to stage the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Also, it was under his patronage and that of his second wife Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al-Misnad, many world class institutions opened up campuses in Qatar.

However, on the 25th of June 2013, Father Emir handed over his power to his son the present Emir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and became the first ruler to hand over his power voluntarily without a coup d’état.

While handing over his power to his son, Father Emir declared, “The time has come to open a new page in the journey of our nation that would have a new generation carry the responsibilities”.

Finally, here we are all at peace and celebrating the National Day in a progressive country like Qatar. Hope you have a wonderful National Day!

SHOULD WE CELEBRATE EID MILAD UN NABI SAW?

As we all know that our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH was born in Islamic month of Rabi Ul Awal. Prophet Muhammad PBUH was sent as a blessing for all mankind to show right path to humanity for success in this world and in hereafter. On 12th date of Rabi Ul Awal many Muslims specially in Subcontinent celebrates Eid Milad Un Nabi as birthday of Prophet Muhammad SAW.

The question is should we Celebrate Eid Milad Un Nabi SAW? to know that we will have to look back in the history that whether Prophet SAW himself celebrated his birthday? Or His Companions celebrated his birthday?? the answer is simply no. Prophet SAW or his Sahaba never celebrated their birthdays. There are only two Eids in Islam according to Quran and Sunnah that are Eid Ul Adha and Eid Ul Fitr.

Eid Milad Un Nabi is a new invention whose no reference is available in Quran or Hadith. Prophet Muhammad SAW has clearly prohibited to invent any new thing in Islam and called it bid’ah. Rasool Allah SAW said Every innovation is a misguidance and every misguidance goes to Hell fire.

The sad fact of today's Muslim Ummah is that many of us has started doing many new works in name of Islam that are no where present in Quran or Hadith but the important things about which Quran and Hadith have guided us again and again are not followed by us.

Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Sheikha Moza must be credited with the vision and rapid development of the country.

Sheikh Hamad set a precedence in handing over the reins to his son. I doubt there are many others with the foresight or the courage to do that...

Hats off to him.
