Most of them were infected by their husbands

Saudi Arabia 80 Aids cases among its women in 2014 and most of them were infected by their husbands, a newspaper in the Gulf Kingdom said on Thursday.

The number of female victims was below 20 per cent of the total 444 cases of the Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome in the world’s largest oil exporter last year, Sabq Arabic language daily said, quoting Dr Sanaa Falamban, director of the Aids programme at the Saudi Health Ministry.

“Most of the women found to have the Aids virus were infected by their husbands….I think the number of relatively low as it accounts for below 20 per cent of the total 444 Aids cases in the Kingdom last year,” She said.

She said nearly 93 per cent of the total Aids cases in Saudi Arabia last year were caused by sexual relationships outside marriage and that about 28 per cent of those infected were Saudis. The remaining cases involved expatriates although they account for nearly a third of the total population of 30 million.

A breakdown showed the Western Red Sea port of Jeddah had the largest Aids ratio in 2014, accounting for nearly 35 per cent of the total. It was followed by the capital Riyadh, the Eastern province and the Western Makkah region.

Like other oil-rich Gulf countries, Saudi Arabia requires all foreigners coming to the region or renewing their visas to undergo an Aids test. Expatriates found to be infected with the killer disease are deported.

So what do you see as the issue here ?

MM: As usual you went off at a tangent.

My point was - "Most of the women found to have the Aids virus were infected by their husbands….I think the number of relatively low as it accounts for below 20 per cent of the total 444 Aids cases in the Kingdom last year,” She said."

To me, even one case is one too many

Actually this news is for the medical research institutes ONLY to do somrthing in this regard rather than while away their time for writing articles in the magazines ............... and sky high salaries ...........

Most medicines are just powder or a coloured liquid now a days ................. one has to take 48 pills just to stop a runny nose .................. which never never needed any medical help 20 years back ........ our parents tell us the truth ..... the real truth ................. medicines just don't cure anything ................ and they confuse us telling stories about the mystery diseases ...........
