QR500 Penalty for RP staying outside Doha for more than 6months

My son (15yrs) has a RP and I am his sponsor. He had stayed outside of Doha for more than 6 months and upon his arrival he was not allow to enter Doha until I paid the full penalty of QR500 at Maisemeer Immigration (Alhamdulillah that I was not travelling with him else, I wouldn't know what to do). All and all, he waited for a whole 2 hours at the airport immigration counter while I raced down and pleaded to the officer to expedite his entry.

Now, after the payment had been made, the same officer told me that my son need to apply for exit permit to leave the Doha. I clarify again and he confirmed that exit permit is required. I didn't think much about it at first as I was concerned more on fetching my son at the airport.

Later that day, I check his RP status and it showed that it is still active so why do he need to have an exit permit? Can anybody share some light?

Is there a immigration counter at HIA to apply for the exit permit?

Its not necessary to come with a new visa.

My children who are studying in India, come to Qatar every year, after I pay QR500 for being more than 6 months outside Qatar.

Same VISA could be renewed as usual. I think exit permit is required for boys 18 years old.

Hi! everyone same situation staying outside Qatar for more than 6 months can return back TO DOHA if they are under father's, company sponsorship even after one year. But you have to pay QR 500/- at the Immigration dept. before their arrival. (only 14 days validity for arrival) They have to carry a scanned copy of this when they travel for safety reasons. This will not affect their visa status.

Saira Khan - Thanks for the info. How easy is it to obtain the exit permit for my son? And should I apply the exit permit a week or a day prior to the departure?

Boys need the exit permit from father when they are exiting Doha whereas girls don't need this.

I know this as both my son and my daughter have to go through this process every year as they are studying in India. Hope this helps.

khairil Anuar, Is immigration allow your Son enter Doha after paying fined of QAR.500. Is he deported back to India. One of my friend daughter, same situation staying outside Qatar for 6 months because she was studying in Philippines, but the fined paid at Doha Immigration then send the papers to her prior to her departure back to Qatar. She entered Doha without problem.

Your son will need an exit permit from you in any case. In most cases the visa is cancelled if the bearer is outside Qatar for more than six months. He can return after paying the QR 500. Then he has to exit and come back with a NEW visa.
