Family Residence Visa Rejected with No Reason

has anyone experienced the same frustration of being rejected for no apparent reason? my husband and I are both working in Qatar and we recently applied for my transfer of sponsorship under him. we completed all the requirements, they were accepted but got rejected the first time. he was then given an appointment to meet the captain in which he was asked such basic questions such "How long have you been working in Qatar" and "You're transferring the sponsorship of your wife". the day after the appointment, we found out that it was rejected again. we went to the immigration office in al gharaffa but we were not given another appointment slip. we asked for possible reasons of the rejection but we were directed to a police officer. He interrogated my husband regarding his salary and position, (11,00qar / Structural CAD Operator), he said that he can see no reason why the application got rejected since we met the basic standards, he advised my husband to go back the next day to talk with the captain. so he did. however, he was not allowed to talk with the captain without any appointment slip but he was not granted an appointment slip either when he requested for one, he was advised to re-apply after 3 months. when he asked why the application got rejected, they answered point blank "NO REASON" that's it. we knew that the process wont be easy and there is a possibility for the application to be rejected, however, someone should at least have the decency to tell us what the problem was so we know what to do. it helps to know if we failed on one requirement or what, but it's harder to accept that the reason is no reason at all. so it seems to us, that we have completed all the requirements but they just don't feel like approving my visa. as simple as that. for all the time, money and effort spent, this is all we got. No reason. it's really just frustrating.

JamDav, What is your husband's qualification and what is the profession mentioned in the QID. It is very important that academic qualification should commensurate to profession on QID; Eg. B.com=Accounts / Diploma=Assistant Eng / BE = Engineer or Manager etc. If they are not, than his profession on QID should be changed inline with his qualification and than reapply.

Deleerious, your profession on QID doesn't commensurate to your qualification. Although you are working as P.M and getting more than 20k, but still your profession mentioned on QID is "Observer" and this should be changed. Check with your PRO if your Higher National Certificate qualifies you to the position of Assistant Engineer. If so, than immediately let him change it. I believe after the profession is changed you will be get family visa. Best of luck.

Same problem in my life too.,my husband has 20000Qr salary.

We submit every document to get Rp.But they rejected, they said my husband has Technicion visa, but he is working as a Qc engineer.Company issued a wrong visa to us. So many of them suffered for getting Rp.

Deleerious, as you are new to the country, you will start to see in your work place, that there are people who are not contributing or having the sense of value-add or improving the situation/processes. I am sure you will see this soon enough, as you have project management experience. These people need to go, they come here straining the company and Qatar's resources and almost do nothing at work. Q companies and its management has started to see these people and started targeting them, as 2016 budget allocated for each business unit has been reduced significantly. We need to adapt the value-add society culture like Singapore to move forward. People need to start realizing that if you cannot add value to the company you work for or the society that you are living in, then why are you here draining and straining resources for other people who wants to make change here. Keep the people who make changes and add value, kick those who are just here to drain resources. If my company find me useless tomorrow, then I am prepared to leave. You always need a back up plan here. I hope people get the message and start making changes!

zackm - thanks a lot for your message. I guess we won't know until it comes to it. Each time I'm told 'expect the worst' it's worked out fine. Fingers crossed and insha'Allah!

Deleerious, I think most likely you should be ok, if you are project manager/observer/consultant, you should be ok for qualifying for family resident visa. I think Qatar is managing its current population based on the expat's job and nationality. From what I can gather from the senior management chain, they are being informed how they need to managed the current expat population in the Q companies. Those jobs not deemed necessary or having value added or duplicate in job roles are subject to purge. First they will start with IT projects and operations projects, which will be told as be hold or cancelled. Next will be purging of senior management and the shop floor staff. Most middle manager and mid level staff will survive the impact of this uncertainty.

BE, why would this be? I had my finger prints last week and my PRO was feeding me some script about what to say if the officer started quizzing me on my job status etc. It was quite the opposite. He couldn't have been friendlier. Took one look at the UK passport and scanned me in. Are they trying to balance nationalities up?

Not that it means anything but what nationality is the OP here?

Deleerious: These are worrying times indeed. Although from what I can fathom, the focus seems to be on the longer term expats...

Really sorry to read this and I'm petrified of it happening to me / us. I have been here 5 months, my wife and son here on a visit visa which we hope will be extended to a family visit visa soon.

Though I'm a Project Manager my title on my RP is 'Observer' as this was the visa they were granted for me. I don't have a degree, only an HNC (attested). I easily meet all the other criteria in terms of salary 20k +, housing etc.

We will be trying for our family residency as of May next year for our son to start school Sept 2016. All I keep hearing from our PRO is 'we'll sort something out...' I have no idea what this even means and I'm really worried we are wasting time here at the moment.

May be the issue with Profession / degree certificate

Structural CAD Operator is not an eligible profession for Family RP and he must have a degree certificate.

Other thing rental agreement must be attested from Muncipality.

zackm: Well said. Too many expats burying their heads in the sand. At the end of the day we are expats - here on temporary basis. Don't assume that you are here for life and plan accordingly

We have tackled this on QL before, response was given!

Qatar is going through economic uncertainty stage, many Q companies are laying off people and sending them back. Restructuring is done within the Org Structure, there is no more job security. Qatar has to look after its own people first before expats. So there is your answer, they need to send back some people who may be deemed not necessary based on their jobs and make it difficult to visa applications. Soon you will see many people leaving the country, bcoz their visa is not renewed, many abandoned pets and cars, soon you will see prices of rent and services go down. Less cars on the road etc. Sorry but this is reality, nothing last forever. Oil prices are down significantly from the boom stage. Party is over, prepare to go back home.
