Disaster
By Wild Turkey •
At least 717 people taking part in the Hajj pilgrimage have been killed in a stampede near the Islamic holy city of Mecca, officials in Saudi Arabia say.
Another 863 people were injured in the incident at Mina, which occurred as two million pilgrims were taking part in the Hajj's last major rite.
It is the deadliest incident to occur during the pilgrimage in 25 years.
Mr wild turkey..what is the point of sitting on your couch and writing a post..why dont you go out and do something for the victimes..and for god sake stop writing things that are already easily available on the web..may god give to the families of the families

no matter the causes hajj organizers committee are to be blamed, that"s it
Whilst it is fine to say that their death was written. One must also look at the root cause and apportion blame if necessary .
accepting mistake needs big heart ...... wild turkey

Wild Turkey: I don't have a problem. You don't have an answer to my query above, it's that simple. Or, maybe you do but the lack the courage to state it. The TRUTH ALWAYS HURTS.

May they rest in peace. There needs to be a thorough investigation to find the root cause of the accident
My God, you have a problem.
When China changed the name of its capital city from Peking to Beijing, BBC accepted it.
When Bangladesh changed the name of its capital city from Dacca to Dhaka, BBC accepted it.
When the Indian government changed the names of its two cities Calcutta and Bombay to Kolkatta and Mumbai, BBC accepted it.
When the Vietnam changed the name of Saigon to Ho Chi Minh City, BBC accepted it.
Why can't it accept the name Makkah and continues along with the west to call it Mecca?
There is difference between Makkah and the German city. People with little knowledge of the German language may find it difficult to spell the name of that German city. Hence, it is called "K-Town" as you have stated. But not writing Makkah by it real spelling has some other reasons behind it. It is a deliberate act. Possibly, you be knowing the reasons behind it.
You know, there is a city in Germany called Kaiserslautern. Do you know how the Americans spell it? "K-Town". Nobody has yet complained.
So, how do you spell the Italian capital?
Wild Turkey: BBC is no authority. The Saudi government spells it Makkah and if they spell it that way, it should be the official way of spelling the word. I am aware why BBC and other western countries spell the word Makkah different from the correct spelling. Possibly, you may also be aware.
acchabaccha, this is how the BBC spells it in their news. Complain to the BBC, please.
Wild Turkey: The correct spelling is Makkah and not Mecca.
Yes, it was indeed a very tragic incident. I do not blame the Saudi authorities a bit but knowing how things move, it is the act of some pilgrims that lead to such tragic scenes. From the steps the Saudi government has taken over the past several years to avoid such incidents, something of this nature should not have taken place at all. Possibly, they may have to look into more ways of improvements to the current system after analyzing the causes that led to this tragedy. Just to let readers who are unaware of the ground realities at this occasion in Mina, two million pilgrims stone the devil during this time of the Hajj ritual.
