Hi, can anyone please tell me which are the private hospitals in Qatar where IVF treatment is available and how much it costs ?... I heard that HMC is not doing IVF for expat women...is it true ?
i think they have limited the ivf treatment for expats. if you have had a successful pregnancy and delivery, and would want another baby, you are taken off the list. you cannot utilize their services anymore. that has been my case. i waited for 5 months to get to my appointment, after a failed ivf last october. when i went to the clinic, i was told i was off the list.
however, they have suggested that you can go to sidra hospital for this treatment. from my understanding, staff there are hamad-trained, but the rate is that of a private hospital.
you can still try women's hospital assisted conception unit if you have had not a successful pregnancy to date.
ronz: You make valid points. However, this is a personal choice one has to make. I know a couple who left their jobs, in order to get IVF treatment abroad. they now have a healthy baby boy.
Best wishes for you and your wife. i hope things work out for the best
Molten, last year when I went for vacation we had a treatment section in Kerala. But the thing is most of the Doctors over there are simply sitting to loot maximum from patients soon after they realize he/she is an NRI. In our case the very first day he enquired about our return date. We were there only for 40 days vacation. So he decided to start various medications & charge us about INR.1.5la in just 20 days with no result.
The thing is being an expat down here, if someone wish to do the treatment in India or anywhere outside Qatar IMO he/she should ready to stay back over there atleast 3-5 months. But the question is how many of us will quit the job & goahead for such expensive treatments !
The cost will depends on the kind of IVF treatment you need. A good doctor would do a preliminary examination of the husband's and wife's condition and proposes a correct treatment... or refuses to do it if the chance is too slim.
Ronz, I feel for you ........... that's reason I suggest to get it treated in your own country to cut the costs & comparatively less stressful .................... Good Luck & joys to all ....................Mon, 31.08.2015, 09.05 hrs
HMC has started already the treatment for expats, you can get a referral and go there to book your appointment. Yes, there is a time waiting but it is worth it in some cases.
The one & only private hospital in Qatar performing IVF procedure is Al Ahli.
Last month my wife undergone the procedure over there. Unfortunately it didn't worked out well in our case. Later when we visit the resident Doctor to enquire the reason for failure, she was totally blank to explain what's happened. The thing is they don't have a dedicated IVF specialist here. A visiting Doctor from Jordan is performing the procedure. On the day of implantation he promised me that about 3 eggs was implanted. But unfortunately not even one didn't worked out. God knows the truth !
The procedure cost itself is QR.18000/-. Apart from that patient has to gothrough several cycles of hormonal injections depending the eggs got fully mature. In our case the medicine itself cost us another QR.10000/-.
Meanwhile if you are planning to treat in HMC, I suggest it's a ultra waist of time. 2 IUI procedure is already failed in our case at HMC. Am not blaming the Doctor's but the overall time taking for the procedure. You have to wait hell lot of time to get an appointment. Now they have given IVF date for us by May 2016. This is reality & we are completely fed up now. This time lapse was the sole reason why we moved to Al Ahli.
As we all know IVF & the treatment for infertility is a indeed a costly thing anywhere in the world unless someone do it for charity.
So altogether it cost us QR.28000/- & a extreme distress of mind.
HMC do IVF , they have inquiry section in WOMAN hospital , there was period end last year till beginning this year they stop for temporary for expatriates.
