Possible move to Qatar
By Middlesbrough123 •
Hi all,
I am British citizen and like to know how easy is it to obtain a personal loan? What paper works/processes involved? I hear there is a requirement for a guarantor and certain time limit in the company before a loan application is in place? Any details about lending to expats will be helpful please?
Thank you so much Yacine. Will work on these websites for now and see what happens. No harm to get info as I do that though. Do you know of any literary scenes and poetry events in Doha?
First, do you have an offer? If yes, share with us some details so that we give you our feedback. If not, go to LinkedIn jobs, bayt.com and gulftalent.com and apply there. Set up proper profiles and don't be lazy filling them with right information. Check also indeed.qa and visit the Careers sections of the biggest companies here. Also, on LinkedIn, befriend head hunters and recruiters in Qatar. There are plenty and they will be happy to add you.
That's it for now. Good Luck.
Sure yacine.h, so what questions do you tell me to ask at this stage? (I feel submissive now, very).
Seriously, get a job first and then ask these questions. t is not like you are going to turn down an offer just because you can't drink as you wish or because there are limitations on loans.
Someone tells me confusion is good, headache is not. You need medicine for that :) (i hope they find medicine for confusion). Another questions please? Is drinking allowed there?
you're confused and I've got a headache :O(
Forgot to say, I do have a bad credit history here in the UK. Does that mean I am at risk to be the same there and take loans? Well, that is a possibility but also a future prediction (note, best way to predict future behavior is to examine past behavior).
That said, does that mean people do not change? If so, then whats the point of rehabilitation centers, education and other institutions in society? Don't know, I feel like confused now, very.
We often read into situation what our surrounding drive us to believe. Upbringing, life experiences and “what is human nature?” All play part in such perception. You both fast-forwarded life for me and decided that I am to take a loan and “vanish”. Future never a guarantee. Take the sun for instance. Though the sun always rise and has been for million years, yet scientists say it might not one day. What if we have judgment day at night time (if you believe in such thing). Then no more sunrise tomorrow?
It is the present what make humans tick and develop humanity further. Yet we either go back to the past or worry about the future, (I shall stop writing that way now as I sound arrogant).
Anyway, of course first things I want to know about are loans, credit cards, big salaries and anything to do with money and make me financially in better place. After all, the biggest attraction there is money, not the pyramids. Not me who gives value to bank notes, society do that. So, I have no choice. Does that mean I want to take a loan? Yes. Do I plan to suddenly “vanish”? No. Instead I plan to buy a marriage nest (I borrow the Arabic idiom) for myself and wife to be to live in forever. I sound romantic. I am happy to meet you for a drink when there though guys. I like white wine. Sweet one. Thanks for the answers though.
This is the second time within a week when such a query has been posted at QL by people who have not yet landed in Qatar, the most recent being from someone in Tamilnadu, India. I too had asked the same question if they plan to disappear after taking the loan. That is how it appeared to me also.
Seriously, is your first question about taking a loan here? Are you planning to take it to the UK and vanish? Now to answer your questions, loans to expats are capped to a maximum of 70k GBP. They are easy to get, but not necessarily the maximum amount as you have to have a fat salary to get it. You pay back your loan in 4 years maximum, and if you are fired you will have either to find a new job or sit in jail until your loan is paid back.
