Visa related question, please help confused

Hi,

I was in Qatar under my ex husband's sponsorship, when we got divorced it was cancelled and i went onto an official visa (meaning i left the country for a few days and came back under this Official visa) it was a short term contract and the visa was only 3 months, the visa expired (not cancelled only expired) I asked them if i needed an NOC and they told me no, because its only an official visa, so I left, however when i got another job to come back this new company was told that my business visa was rejected because i left the country I am now banned for 2 years before i can apply again. Previous colleagues on official visa have been able to go back,,,my question is can this be because my 1st family residence permit was cancelled? if that is true, how would i have been able to return the 2nd time on an official visa and now its not possible? any feedback is appreciated. thanks
