Is NOC required to return as a visitor?
I am a US citizen and have been working here in Doha for over one year. I have a potential job offer coming to me from the US. If it goes through, I would then return home and be stationed there; however, the job would require me to return here to Doha every month or two for only a few days each time. Would I still be required to obtain an NOC (no-objection certificate) from my current employer in order to return for those minimal times? Would I be considered a visitor?
I hope this is the case. Thanks for the encouragement. I still need to confirm this with legal advice. I'm waiting for the call.
You can re-enter as a tourist with no NOC with a US passport. It just depends on whether your new employer wants to do the 'right' thing and have you re-enter Qatar on business visas for your business trips (in which case an NOC would probably be required) or content for you to come in to do work on a tourist visa. I've known people who have lived and worked in Qatar for years on tourist visas, so I can't see it being a problem.
