Doha passenger caught with 3 kg gold strapped to his body
A passenger from Doha was caught by customs personnels in Chennai for having strapped several bars of Gold under his clothing. The Gold bars weighed nearly 3.1 Kg.
Siraj, originally a resident of Bangalore flew out from Doha on Sunday 4th of July on a Qatar Airways flight. Uppn his arrival, the customs official sensed something suspicious and stopped him for a quick check.
Siraj had covered the gold in graphite paper to avoid detection. A few bars of gold were also discovered from his bag prior to his inspection.
According to the Qatari officials, Siraj could be a part of a larger racket because it is impossible otherwise to have gone unnoticed by the Qatar airport security.

This article didn't explain if the gold or stolen or bought? Maybe he just did not want to pay tax on it.

but what are the legal rules for getting gold out or in a country ? is not it enough to have a bill of buying it ? i dont think also all countries require taxes for bringing gold IN right?
He tried to "smuggle" rather than declare. So i assume , the gold can be confiscated by the authorities
Is this a criminal case? Hope they will return those back to Mr Siraj as long as he can prove that he earned it and that he didn't stole it. Let him pay instead the required taxes for bringing gold.

I can only say, WOW! gold :D
Amazing, I could only dream to have so much gold. Too bad he lost it all. Suprised it did not appear on a metal detector.
Poor Siraj. Probably got a cavity search
