From the time school is done in June until school begins again in the fall, there is a long break of three months time when children can learn and further develop their value system.

This time may be more influential to their lives than their school working days.

Kids in Qatar have longer holidays than some of their peers and also have to contend with it being the hottest time of the year.

Here we take a look at some of the activities you can do with your kids over the summer to keep them happy and entertained.

There are various activities that you can engage your child in during summers.

You can do your own projects with your kids at home.

Projects could include arts and craft, baking, scientific inventions and lots more.

Moreover, you can encourage your child to learn a new life skill such as swimming, playing a new sport, learning a new language or anything you can think of that will benefit the future life of your child.

This is the perfect time to inculcate in your child the essence of humanity and helping out others. Encourage them to take part in some of the many charity initiatives in Qatar - from helping out with special needs kids to taking abandoned dogs for walks - there is so much they can volunteer for.

If you aren't planning to visit some far off destination this year, but can manage a small local trip, go for it - small trip to Dubai or other GCC countries. Make it a fun trip also also and educational one with lots of discoveries for your kids.

Most importantly make sure your child does not miss out on excercise. It is essential for you and your child to still keep active during this time and not spend the summer vegging in front of the TV.

The temperatures are slightly cooler before 8am and after 6pm so plan any outdoor exercise during this time.

Last but not the least, you could enroll your child in one of the many summer camps being conducted in Qatar this year.

This will help your children to push out of their comfort zone and exposes them to new activities and experiences,to develop social skills and foster independence.

The various summer camps in Qatar include:
