The Traffic Department has removed a speed radar from February 22 Road after detecting an increase in the number of accidents near the radar, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.

The radar was located opposite Omar Bin al-Khattab Mosque on the Al Shamal-Doha side of the expressway.

The department removed the radar after finding that it was not functioning properly and was causing problems to motorists by flashing incessantly, the report adds.

Meanwhile, a number of users of the Abu Samra-Lusail road have called for curbing traffic accidents caused by excessive speeding by truck drivers.

Many of the accidents have reportedly been caused while overtaking, according to the daily. [Gulf Times]

I would like to share my experience, one fine morning i received a sms in mobile informing the fine of QR500/- because of overspeeding at a particular area at 6am. After discussing with my family, i found that morning i didn't went anywhere morning, when i investigated the case at traffic dept., madinat khalifa, last two digits of Reg. no. interchanged, discovered that it was a typo error, the fine belongs to someone else, after clarification, traffic dept. removed my fine. But the amount of tension, i have suffered was too much. If it would have a fine during working hours, i would have paid it online believing them without investigation. Its my request to all of you to investigate the fine before making payment.

the ever increasing vehicles on road and lack of roads to accommodate them is the root cause of the traffic issues right now in Qatar. lets hope for better days to come once all the ongoing road expansion projects get completed.
