Josoor Institute and Qatar Tourism Authority commence second workshop dedicated to sports and events industries
Workshop to focus on the implications of MEGA events on tourism and hospitality
DOHA, Qatar – 23 April 2015: Josoor Institute, part of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, and Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) kicked off their second professional development workshop titled the “Implications of Mega Events on Tourism and Hospitality”.
This is the second workshop hosted this week by Josoor Institute in partnership with QTA at the Aspire Academy and follows the “Sports Tourism – A Comprehensive Overview” workshop that successfully concluded on 21 April 2015.
With an increasing number of MEGA events set to take place in the region, including the 2020 EXPO, the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships among others, the workshop looks at the impact of events of this scale and explores their opportunities and associated risks. The MEGA event workshop also highlights the importance of forward planning to ensure sustainable growth around MEGA events.
The ongoing workshop has delegates from hospitality and tourism industry, ministry of Interior and Ministry of Economy & Commerce, Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, Qatar Tourism Authority, Qatar Football Association, Aspire, College Of North Atlantic – Qatar, Georgetown University, Qatar University, and local sports clubs amongst others.
