My experience at Biriyani Hut, Wakra
Biriyani is one dish on hearing the name itself many people starts salivating! Dedicating the name of a restaurant which serves so many other dishes also is understandable to a Biriyani lover like me. But the name brings some expectation/responsibility along with it. Does Biriyani Hut cater to the expectation of crazy Biriyani lovers?
A visit to the Wakra neighbourhood on hearing the tales of Biriyanis Biriyani Hut serves was backed up with high expectations. A friday lunchtime and two empty stomachs seemed to be the ultimate combo to have some lipsmacking Biriyani. A tiny restaurant with the ground floor serving to take away/delivery category seemed rather uninvitng. A narrow stairs leaded to an unexpectadly cute, purplish, cozy interior. It was a busy and a happening place, which again is a very good sign.
Some moments spent on table admiring cute little stuff decorating the restaurant while waiting for the menu. Menu consisted of an array of Biriyanis from different regions of India and Arab World. Choosing one was a tough decision, but hungry stomach made a safe choice. A Hyderabadi biriyani was ordered along with Malai Kebab and Garlic Naan. Served in cute clay pots, Biriyani looked beautiful! Rice was long and cooked well and looked good. But tastewise, I have to admit I've had much better! Biriyani didn't have that X factor to be considered a 'very good' one. On the other hand, Malai Kebab was very tasty, melt-in-the-mouth type. It took all the glory away from Biriyani on that particular day! Garlic Naan was a very good accompaniment to the yummy kebabs.
Service was okay thorughout, not particularly great! Prices may seem to be a bit on the higher side for some people. But on the whole I think they are reasonably priced. Definitely paying another visit to be experimental may be with Murgh Tikka Biriyani or Hamour Tikka Biriyani:-) Infact, soon! Hamour Tikka Biriyani sounds too good to be neglected!
Deccan Deewan, Best in town biryani and Marag....
@MM Thanks to you!
@ Big Tyson & qluser999, Yes, Ilove the Biriyani Deccan Deewan Serve. But only Biriyani. Rest are just passable.
@kvpk1977 I have tried Spice Boat before, but never had their Hyderabadi Biriyani. I found their food to be mediocre at best. Will definitely pay a visit to have Hyderabadi Biriyani.
Saying again - Deccan Dewan... It feels like having the hyderabadi biryani while sitting in Hyderabad !! Good going Deccan !
You better also try Deccan Dewan near Midmac round about, if you like Hyderabadi Biryani. They serve other dishes also that are mouth watering. Give a try!
