House Contract not renewing

Hai,

I'm renting an apartment in Doha Jadeed since the last 15 years. It is very convenient for me as it is closer to my wife's place of work, kids school and kids extra curricular activities. Plus the great advantage is this building has reserved shaded parking for all its residents.

Our contract falls for renewal in February, now the landlord had called me now and tells me all of a sudden that he is not willing to renew my contract and that I should vacate the apartment as soon as the current contract ends. I mentioned to the owner that I agree to pay his current new rental amount.

This sounds very selfish, as he tells me that he is now wanting to give the apartments for a company. Over these 15 years I had never defaulted my rent, I always paid my rent in the form of post dated cheques at the time contract renewal. Never created any problem for any other residents.

I'm really not planning to move unless I'm at fault.

Is there any protection for tenants from Qatar Government? Is there any procedure I can initiate to make me stay in that apartment and I agree to pay his current new rental agreement.

Sorry, it is their soil, their property, their rule thats it. All your + points for the last 15 years not considered. They have the legal rights to evict any tenants with 3 months notice, they will have their own reason behind it. Have peace and find similar place elsewhere, world is too big for those who compromise.

Owner has full rights to ask you to vacate. Better to start looking for a new accommodation in the same area.

@Zaryab, I see burning jealousy in your thoughts above, not at all sentimental, it is a matter of convenience. The rent is not cheap at all, comparable to any other locations.

last 15 years... sentiments..? a BIG NO. Now realizing how cheap was the living. If he increases 100% you will question it in court. Be prepared for a new shelter, set mind to accept any changes and find another convenient shelter, let the landlord do what he deserve. Because it belongs to him.

You can ask for one month notice period. I think he did it.
