Lekhwiya recorded more than 300,000 traffic violations in 2014
The Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) that gives support to the Traffic Department and other law enforcing sections recorded a total of 341,170 traffic violations on its own during last year, a senior official has disclosed.
Majority of the violations involved in stunt driving and overtaking from right, said Brig Ali Salman Al Mohannadi, commander of parades and patrols at Lekhwiya.
The violating cars could face impounding and if it is for one day the procedures are simple. However, if a car is impounded for more than a day it will be followed by other legal procedures, said the official.
He said stunt driving on the roads has reduced after the authorities allotted a special area in Industrial Area for car sports, under monitoring by the Traffic Department and the Civil Defence department. [Read more on The Peninsula]
