This is the volleyball situation in Doha: apart from the First League playing in the main indoor gymnasium, such as Al Arabiy, Al Rayan, Al Sadd etc., at a very high level (I visited the first one, near Grand Hamad Stadium, and had a talk with the trainer), there are no minor league in Qatar. Then, the only possibility is to register a team in some amateur championship, such as that one organized by Philippino community (which also organized the "Ambassadors Coup", an open tournament during tha summer season (at Al Araby gym): I had a phone call with Eric (55207785), who passed to me the contact of their President (John Lenard 77527580) but he just asked for a work without helping me in my volley search!!! There would also be a championship/tournament organized by the Indian community, but unfortunate I have none contacts. Otherwise, we could simply find a court and go to play autonomously (we must be at least 8!): in the Aspire area, near where I live, I have noticed a couple of volley court, never used...

As an alternative, we could think of playing beachvolley (now it's the right weather season!): in addition to the courts in the front-sea hotels or tourist facilities (Sharq Resort /Old Airport, Hilton /City Center, Saint Regis /Katara, Diplomatic Club /the Pearl) we can rent during the weekend, there is a BV Academy in Doha located within the Al-Gharrafa sport complex: I have a contact for it (Mohammed Benhamida [email protected] 55094820, Adel Yacef 55449833) who invited me to join their courses starting from the 15th Nov., after the World Tour Doha stage ongoing from 4th to 8th Nov. (tonight I have watched some matches, and I realized that after 6:30 some of the 5 courts are freed...): want to come and give a look tomorrow? the matches start after 16h00.
