Refused a rental cuz of ethnicity

I have been looking for housing for some time and recently saw a new building in umm ghwalina for a three bedroom apartment. The Management was willing to let us rent it when they talked on the phone and asked us to come look at the apartment. Once we looked at it, i was told the next morning that we had too many kids and they would not rent the place to us. I took them at their word and let it go. Althoguh i dont know who they want to rent the dam three bedroom apartment if not for families.

The same day a real estate guy called me up and offered the same place, i informed him that i was already refused due to family size (just to clarify, husband wife and four kids). He was surprised and told me to wait while he figured out what happened.

he later called and told me that it was due to the fact that even though I spent most of my life in the US and had a US passport (all my family) we looked pakistani and they didnt want to rent the place to "Pakistanis and as my wife wore an abaya also"

I was shocked and pissed off but glad i dont live there.

What a bunch of losers.

Looking for an apartment in Doha can be frustrating, I myself was looking for an apartment found a (for rent sign)in bin Omran area ,called the man,who speaks clear Arabic, and he replied:"No Arabs Asians only" when I asked why he said the whole building is like this.

I don't understand the problem. Sometimes ,if it's a partitioned villa, I understand that some problems can happen due to different cultures between different nationalities separated by a thin wooden wall, but not in an apartment building.I currently live in a building all Filipinos except for me and my family, and we have been nothing but nice to each other.

That "for rent sign" stayed there for 6 months. What a nice way to waste money on that property.

It is indeed unusual for such a thing to take place in Qatar. I can hardly believe the story. I know that in some western countries houses for rent do display "only for whites" signboards outside the houses that have been put up for rental, but this does not happen in this part of the world.
