Two new signalised intersections on the road leading to the north — Al Markhiya and Dahl Al Hamam — will open for traffic on Sunday morning, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) said yesterday.

Work on converting the two roundabouts to intersections has reached the final phase and the last layer of asphalt on Al Markhiya intersection will be laid tomorrow and the day after.

Al Markhiya intersection and its access roads will be closed during the weekend for the final preparations. During the closure, motorists coming from TV Roundabout and heading to Dahl Al Hamam intersection can take a right turn and use the service road to access Al Majalis Street and Street 245 (Arab League Street).

Motorists coming from Street 245 and heading towards Al Gharrafa Interchange (Immigration Interchange) can take a right turn at Wadi Al Wajba Street to reach Khalifa Street.

Those coming from Jassim bin Hamad street and heading towards Khalifa Street will need to take a right turn to Al Wabra Street and then a left to Yanbu Street to reach Khalifa Street.

Motorists coming from Al Gharrafa Interchange and heading to TV Roundabout can take a right turn to Oman bin Abdulaziz street, again turn right to Al Fayhani street, then turn left to Omar bin Al Khattab Street towards Al Wabra Street and take another left turn to Yanbu Street.
