Xperia Z3 water damage not covered by warranty by Sony 51 East Doha

I have recently purchased Sony Xperia Z3 advertised as water proof. I have tested it under water in my washbasin and it stopped working after a few seconds. I tried to get it fixed or replaced at Sony service center in Doha, Qatar (51 East) using the valid warranty but was told that the warranty is not valid because of water damage! I tried again to escalate the issue but I received another rejection. I feel my rights have been violated and was wondering whether others have experienced similar issues with 51 East or Xperia Z3
Yes I got the xperia problem done after their service centre rejection by Customer protection dept.Sony Service centre in Qatar (Modern home-55 East)are not customer friendly.And I given a nice dose to them through Customer Protection Dept.

OMG, I have had the same problem with my xperia Z3, i submitted to 51 east 5 days before, but until now they didn't even check it. Do i have to pay a big amount?

Dear don't give up , 51 East they are always misbehaving to consumers. i'm also facing the same issue and i reported in Consumer court just today . i believe I will get justice. and sony water resist is not working i know many person who had the same problem and this 51 middle east they are not giving good service to consumers. it's their duty to replace the mobile or they have to refund the amount. anyways 51 east will be in trouble very soon because many consumers are going to complain against them. they are keep on telling "sony rejected" we don't know it's true or lie !! anyways today i got a positive response from consumer court. Insa allah everything will be okay . We have the right to get compensation.
Thank you all for your advice and comments. Sorry it is Z2 not Z3. I have complained to consumer rights as recommended. Although they were very friendly and efficient, they closed the case after Sony provided them with a report stating that damage was caused by me. Regarding the waterproof/water resistant issue, the mobile is sold as water resistant although it is advertised by Sony as water proof ( , check second 26 in the link). I refused to pay $450 to get it replaced as it does not make sense to pay almost twice for the handset. I have decided to send it abroad to fix it for a cheaper price or get rid of it trying. It is expensive because it was supposed to resist water but it didn't. For me, never again!!
Read the booklet and see what is says about water. Could be water resistant but not water proof. There is a difference. But if it was sold from. A sales person who said it be submerged in water as a selling point, then that's misinformed you to gain a sale.
