The Police College will receive the first batch of 130 candidates today who will commence training.

The students include 120 Qataris and those from other GCC and Arab countries. They will get a bachelor in law and police science degree after finishing the course.

The college is an important development in implementing the security pillar of Qatar National Vision 2030.

The budget for the college project is around QR2.5bn. Admission is limited to students of 2012-13 and 2013-14. The Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani has set up a panel to conduct interviews.

The General Manager of the college, Brigadier Dr Mohamed Abdulla Al Mohanna said that the college is ready to receive the first batch where students will stay for four years to pursue the degree.

Students will get allowances, transportation, awards and other benefits during their stay in the college and will get the rank of lieutenant after graduation.

Last February, the Ministry of Interior had set up a supreme council to develop policies of the college. The students began their orientation programme on Thursday.
