Engineering Salary In Qatar - Query

Hello Compadres,

I am 28, been working as an Electrical Engineer for the last 6+ years in Australia. I graduated from Monash University, Australia in early 2008. I am Australian Citizen, been living in here for 10+ years, originally from Bangladesh. Due to my wife living n working in Qatar for the last 1.5 yrs, I had the opportunity to visit there a few times and I really liked it, so much that I am now seriously considering moving there. Although I have a decent enough job here in Australia, moving there would mean more than earning the money for me, having said that I would like to justify whether this would really be worth it. Could some please give me an idea about an expected package range (base salary+additionals) on the basis of the following criteria:

Occupation: Electrical Engineer
Number of Years of Experience: 6+
Experience: Power System Design, Substation Commissioning, Project Management
Qualification: Bachelor of Electrical & Computer Systems Engineering, Some Project Management Certifications, Technical Certifications.
Citizenship: Australian

Would really appreciate if some of you can give me some indications in terms of what sort of salary I can expect for a role to suit my level of experience. Also, I travel to Qatar time to time, whether it would be prudent to search for jobs while I am there or do it while I am in Australia. To rephrase my question, what is the best way to apply for jobs in Qatar?

Thanks in Advance.

@sayed, thanks heaps for ur detail response. Because you asked, my experience is predominantly in substation engineering. Worked for ABB for 5.5 years and currently working for an Australian commissioning company. I am planning to finish a masters certificate in Project Management by September this year. Besides my project management, power system design and commissioning experience, I also have team-lead experiences. Under these circumstances, would you recommend any sort of training/certification worthwhile that is of high demand in the engineering industry that may be useful while I apply for jobs? Namely Six Sigma etc. As I mentioned I am planning to secure a job and move to Qatar by early next year, would you recommend any certain recruitment agency that can help me in this regards? Cheers.

it all depends on what industry u apply or seek, if u are in petrochemical, refinery ur complete remuneration has to be more than 32000 QR, if its in steel then 22000

Qr,its in power generation it has to be 28000 QR. if ur in PVt contacting co. then it has to be 12000QR..negotite for more, graduty, bonuses, transport, and one the most important is housee rent. houses in Qater is skyrockeeting, a siple one bedroom flat will cost u 8000QR per month.its hiighly cosstly to stay in Qatar.Think before u leave ausstarilia, yuor job will be hanging on knife as heere Qataarization is on rise, means very sson u will be replaced by qatary national.
