Qatar Charity's relief convoy goes to Africa

Qatar Charity (QC) has sent a relief convoy for 5,000 new refugees from Central Africa on the border with Chad.
It contained food and non-food items worth QR500,000. Food baskets contained 25kg rice, 250gramme sugar, five litres of oil, a month’s supply of milk and non-food items, including a jerrycan, a carpet and a plastic sheet.
The supply complements QC’s previous efforts in the area and was implemented in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Chad.
QC has been a pioneer in providing urgent relief to the displaced from Central Africa to Chad after the massacre of Muslims which have forced hundreds of thousands to flee to neighbouring countries, particularly Chad.
It also continues to participate in efforts by international organisations and the government to support the displaced through implementation of relief projects in the areas of shelter, food and health.
QC was the first to provide relief to Central African Muslim refugees in Chad and has carried out charitable projects over six months, targeting 20,000 people.
The projects cover shelter needs, such as tents, blankets and plastic containers, food, water and personal hygiene items at a cost of about QR13m.
They seek to provide 4,000 tents, 2,000 blankets and other non-food items for 4,000 people, three months’ food aid for 12,000 people, personal hygiene items for 12,000 people and potable water for 20,000.
A QC delegation began implementation of the first phase of the project, which involved the distribution of relief assistance to 1,000 refugee families in the Deuba Camp in the city of ‘Sar’ on the Chadian border with Central African Republic.
QC is receiving donations for relief through its branches, via collectors in commercial complexes, on its website and at Barwa Bank to account number IBANQA60BRWA000000000.
Donations can also be made via text message by texting 92632 to donate QR50, 92642 to donate QR100, 92428 to donate QR500 and 92429 to donate QR1,000.
